A salt-S-Limestone (ultra-pure) deposit located 0.9 km (0.5 mile) NE of Hoskins (town), on federal wildlife land (Brazoria Federal Wildlife Refuge). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 5,000 meters. The dome and sulfur shows were found during oil test in 1903. Sulfur tests and gravity survey were done by Texas Company during the period 1915 to 1920. Acquired by Freeport Sulphur in 1922.

Mineralization is a salt dome deposit (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code: 255; USGS model code: 35a.7 (35ag); Deposit model name: Salt-dome sulfur), hosted in the Middle Jurassic Louann Limestone and salt. The depth to the caprock is 574 feet, to the sulfur is 850 feet, and to the salt is 1,100 feet. The salt volume is 0.8 cubic mile. The sulfur occurs on the flanks of the dome. Local alteration includes the biogenic alteration of anhydrock to limestone. Local rocks include rocks of the Beaumont Formation, areas predominantly sand, and alluvium.

Local geologic structures include a piercement salt dome with a depth-to-bottom of 731.52 meters and a depth-to-top of 259.08 meters.
