It is a 6 km-long belt of N-trending Siluro-Devonian felsic volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks that bear significant similarities to the rhyolitic rock package of the Woodlawn district, 140 km to the south. No modern mining has occurred in the Wisemans Creek area, though historic Au and Cu workings exist at several locations in the area, including Phoenix. There, pyritic gossans were targeted for free milling Au resources in the late 19th century.
