Ordinary Chondrite, weathered (H6)
Find, 1930; 16.6 kg
A meteoritic mass was ploughed up in the early 1930's, embedded in concrete in 1964, and soon thereafter recognized as a meteorite. Well-equilibrated Olivine [Fa18] and orthopyroxene [variety, bronzite] composition are characteristic of H6 chondrites. Opaques reported by Ramdohr included some interesting spinel-magnetite intergrowths. Exterior rust and interior limonite stains are quite prominent. A cosmic ray exposure age of T = 6.5 Ma was obtained with some evidence of an earlier collision in the not too distant past.
The main mass [8.95 kg] was acquired by the Max Planck Institute and was presumably transferred to the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin when the Max Planck collection was liquidated. Smaller masses were distributed to several institutions.
