Blue Ridge Mine; Aladdin
This mine is located on the west side of Deep Creek 4 miles north of Aladdin. The geology is a replacement zone in marble along a contact with granite, schist, and quartzite. The marble is similar to the Reeves Limestone member of the Maitlen Phyllite and possibly of Precambrian age. Development consisted of six levels and an incline shaft connecting some of them containing around 8000' feet of workings. It produced ore in 1909, 1924, 1925, 1941-1944, and 1950-1952. Mills (1977) reported around 919,000 lbs Pb, 5,740,000 lbs Zn, and 29,000 oz Ag being produced
Note: This mine is sometimes referred to as the Aladdin Mine, but is separate from the Aladdin Mine on Rocky Creek
Deposit: Ore body about a mile south of contact between metasedimentary rocks and spirit pluton of cretaceous age. Ore minerals generally concentrated in layers parallel to bedding in marble.
Rock formation(s): Tonalite Dikes And Sills
Ore(s): Marble Beds Below Impervious Gouge Zones Along Low Dipping Faults
