A former Au mine located in the NW¼SE¼ sec. 16, T15S, R21E, SBM, 2.4 km (8,000 feet) E of Obregon, S of the American Girl Wash (5 miles NE of Ogilby), on private (patented) land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
NOTE: The geographic coordinates presented are taken from the topo map at the exact point designated as the Guadalupe Mine.
Mineralization is a deposit hosted in well foliated quartz diorite. The ore body strikes N15E and dips 45SE at a width of 1.83 meters, length of 30.48 meters. The quartz diorite is composed mainly of quartz and fault gouge. Subparallel is a felsite dike 20 feet wide, 10 to 30 feet into the hanging wall. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or schist of various types and ages, unit 9 (Cargo Muchacho Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 240 foot shaft inclined at 45 degrees. Fifty foot drifts were driven in opposite directions along the vein on the 40 foot level. A SW crosscut drift was driven 20 feet into the hanging wall. NE crosscuts were driven 30 feet and 25 feet into the hanging wall.
