Brecksville is a city in Cuyahoga County and a suburb of Cleveland. It was established in 1811 and named after Colonel John Breck. Brecksville gained township status in 1807, then incorporated into a village in 1921 and finally gained city status in 1960.

Any references to “East Brecksville Township” or “Brecksville Township” (Carlson, 1991, Carlson, 2015) are voided as it was declared by the city of Cleveland that when the entirety of a civil township has been annexed by one or more municipalities, it ceases to have governmental powers and becomes a “paper township”.
