A former Pb-Zn-Ag-Cu-Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 2, T19S, R41E, MDM, 2.2 km (1.3 miles) NNW of Zinc Hill (coordinates of record), on the N end of the Argus Range, on National Park Service wilderness land (Death Valley National Park/Death Valley Wilderness). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Corrected coordinates: N36.31414 W117.50340 (taken at remains of mining structures by Richard Muster in the year 2009 using an Ashtech MM6 device).
Mineralization is a deposit hosted in granite. The ore body strikes N80E and dips 35N, at a width of 0.91 meter. A quartz vein occurs in granite near a limestone contact. Local rocks include Permian marine sedimentary rocks, unit 1 (Death Valley and Mojave Desert).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 91.44 meters and comprised of a 100 foot adit and 200 feet of drifts.
Production data are found in: Goodwin, Joseph Grant (1957).
Production information: Period: 1946 - 1949 : Complex ore was shipped and averaged 25.4% Pb, 6.95% Zn, 13.9 ounces Ag/ton, 1.77% Cu, and minor Au. A 1951 shipment contained 26.4% Pb, 3.34% Zn, 6.8 ounces Ag, plus some Cu.
