An As occurrence/prospect in arsenopyrite ore hosted in the Precambrian Franklin marble. Located near Edenville.

This is an occurrence about which little, beyond minimal descriptions, has been written. This locality is an apparently extensive zone in the Franklin Marble, near the base of Mounts Adam and Eve, that is rich in arsenopyrite and löllingite. It was test-pitted for gold in the 19th century because it had long been recognized that there was a relationship between gold and arsenopyrite. There are a number of areas in the Franklin Marble where arsenopyrite is abundant. This locality north of Edenville is the most extensive.

The arsenopyrite-rich bands, as well as other local horizons rich in boron or aluminum, are characterized by subhedral to euhedral crystals and exhibit little or no metamorphic deformation. Age dating (Volkert, et al, 2005) has shown that these undeformed horizons were recrystallized during a widespread hydrothermal event that accompanied the emplacement of post orogenic pegmatites during the period from circa 1005 MA to 950 MA. What is still unclear is whether the hydrothermal fluids introduced chemical componants, such as arsenic or boron, into the system or if these concentrations of arsenopyrite or boron represent pre-existing protoliths rich in these elements as is likely the case with the aluminum-rich (corundum, spinel) horizons.
