"The D8 connects the city to Camaret and to the Pointe du Penhir where one will find the isles named Tas de Pois. At the bottom of the rocky cliffs of the Pointe, one can encounter striated pebbles enclosing rutile and zircon crystals." [Belot, 1978]
The Crozon peninsula, which is named after its main city, Crozon, is located at the western end of Brittany, in the center of Finistère department and its rugged coastline, cross-shaped, is surrounded by sea on three sides: to the North by Brest harbor (roadstead), to the West by the Iroise Sea and to the South by the Douarnenez Bay. To the East, at the entrance of the peninsula, the Ménez-Hom is a mountain belonging to the Black Mountains (Montagnes Noires).
Surrounded by the sea, the peninsula is mostly appreciated for its rich landscapes; among other remarkable natural sites are the Cap de la Chêvre, the Pen-Hir, Toulinguet and Spaniards (Espagnols) points, the Dinan castle, the Roscanvel peninsula, and the Crozon Aber. The communes (villages and towns) which are part of the Peninsula are Argol, Camaret-sur-Mer, Crozon, Landévennec, Lanvéoc, Roscanvel, and Telgruc-sur-Mer.
The Crozon peninsula is of exceptional geological interest with large outcrops on the coast where one can discover the different layers of the Paleozoic.
The Mineralogical House (La Maison des Minéraux), located in Saint-Hernot in Crozon, presents the landscapes, rocks, and minerals of Brittany, especially of the Crozon peninsula.
