Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Quartz vs. Asagiite
It's a classic vs a newbie as the most common named mineral in the crust Quartz is up against an exceedingly-rare sea foam-green mineral discovered just a few years ago Asagiite.

Introduction
Haugesund Municipality is located in Rogaland County, Norway, along the Karmsundet strait, within the traditional Haugaland district. The municipality includes mainland coastal areas, several small islands within Karmsundet, and the offshore island group of Røvær.
Geology
The bedrock of the municipality is dominated by Caledonian metamorphic rocks, mainly metavolcanic and metasedimentary units of greenschist facies, derived largely from Ordovician protoliths. These rocks form part of the Caledonian nappe complex and are widespread across the mainland and near‑shore islands. Locally, gneissic and dioritic to tonalitic rocks occur and represent Caledonian intrusions or strongly reworked older rocks affected by Caledonian deformation. The island group of Røvær is characterised by metagabbroic rocks, also related to Caledonian tectono‑magmatic processes. Quaternary deposits, including till and marine sediments, cover the bedrock in many areas.
Mines and mineral localities
The municipality has no significant mines or mineral localities. (2026)
