Discovered by Selcast Exploration Ltd in the late 1960's, together with several other nearby nickel prospects. It is now marked by a small open pit. It is about 5 kilometres south of the Coolgardie-Norseman Highway/Goldfields Highway Junction, and about 2 kilometres west of the highway. The Wattle Dam mine, Andrews Shaft, and Spargoville 5A mines are in the immediate area.

Selcast and BP Minerals Australia in the mid 1970's developed a decline into the deposit. Amalg Resources NL also conducted some mining at the location during the 1990's.

Located on the western limb of an anticline. Outcrop sparse. Discontinuous gossan lenses less than one metre thick. Ultramafic dips 75 degrees west, consisting of quartz-feldspar-biotite-actinolite metasediments or tuff. Sill like feldspar porphyries intruded at the contact zone.

Overlying this is 10 metres of foliated tremolite, chlorite, carbonate, containing a few metres of fine grained disseminated Ni sulphides, and breccia sulphide veinlets. Mineralisation is pyrrhotite, pentlandite, minor chalcopyrite, pyrite, gersdorffite and niccolite.
