Fidalgo Mine


A copper-silver-gold mine located inside the Anacortes City Limits, about 1 mile East of the airport, by Cranberry Lake. It worked a weakly mineralized and serpentinized zone 10' wide and exposed for 600' in granodiorite. It produced 1 shipment of ore that was sent to the ASARCO smelter in Tacoma. Development includes 5 shallow shafts and an open cut.
Structure: Shear Zone

Tectonics: Active Margin (Leading Edge North American Plate); Accreted Terrane

Deposit: Shear zone in granodiorite is serpentinized and weakly mineralized

Deposit type: Polymetallic veins

Geology: Fidalgo complex is an accreted ophiolite terrane. Granodiorite may be part of complex or part of a later magmatic event. Relation to ore is not known
