Old mining prospects for galena and baryte.

The first prospecting permit, named Perdas Arbas de Sa Gruxi, was granted around 1870 for argentiferous galena in the area of Perdas Arbas, NNE of the Capo Pecora promontory. Later, a new prospecting permit, named Capo Pecora, was granted in the area for baryte. In the 20th century, another prospecting permit, named Punta Su Guardianu, was granted for baryte in the area located on the west slope of Punta de Su Guardianu towards the locality of Arcu Sa Gruxi.

The area of the old prospects is characterised by the presence of quartz and baryte veins with minor fluorite, galena, and other sulphides in metamorphosed Paleozoic sedimentary rocks.
