One of the most interesting mineralogical localities of Hopunvaara Hill is the dumps of the Bekk exploration mine. It was founded in 1896. A lot of altered skarns, usually epidote-garnet, sometimes with pyroxene, amphibole, magnetite, are found here in small quantities. Products of hydrothermal alteration of ore-bearing skarns are abundant.

The main minerals of hydrothermal associations are chlorite, quartz, and magnetite, represented by pseudomorphs over lamellar hematite - musketovite. Calcite, fluorite, and light yellow-brown sphalerite are present in subordinate quantities; unsubstituted lamellar hematite, goethite (inclusions in quartz and bundles of acicular crystals in cavities), galena, pyrite, bertrandite, and apatite are occasionally found. Hypergene anglesite and cerussite grow after galena. The altered rocks are full of cavities. Almost all hydrothermal minerals form in massive aggregates and also crystals on the walls of the cavities.
