An unincorporated community that was established in 1846 as a copper mining town. When first settled, the town had a population of around 100, which grew to nearly 1,200 at the height of mining operations.

Today, all that remains are the foundations of former mining buildings and a mining tour. The town's decline was largely due to its remote location and lack of alternative employment opportunities. Despite efforts to keep the town alive, it ultimately could not survive.
