Myaw-taung is situated south-west of Kyini-taung. The mining area consists of marbles intruded by leucogranite and pegmatite veins, skarns and contact zones. At Myaw-taung, dark greenish, orange yellow and other-colored moonstones are mostly found mixed with other minerals. High quality milky moonstones characterized by blue sheen are found in the contact zones between the pegmatite veins and marble. Diopside and scapolite are also found scattered in the general area. The gems are recovered using lebin mining schemes in dry washings, due to absence of water in the area. - Ted Themelis (2008) Gems and Mines of Mogok
