Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Quartz vs. Asagiite
It's a classic vs a newbie as the most common named mineral in the crust Quartz is up against an exceedingly-rare sea foam-green mineral discovered just a few years ago Asagiite.

This pluton was emplaced during 159 ∼ 156 Ma and consists mainly of porphyritic biotite-hornblende monzonitic granite and shows clear intrusive contact relationships with both the Taihua group and the Xiong’er group. The strata in the deposit are predominantly belong to the Jidanping formation, which is primarily composed of andesite and dacite and serves as the principal host stratum for gold mineralization. Ten gold mineralization belts and over 50 orebodies have been identified in the deposit, all structurally controlled by fault zones. The main gently dipping concealed orebodies are the M23 and M24 veins. The M23 vein is hosted by the F23 fault zone and averages 3.97 g/t Au, while the nearly parallel M24 vein lies beneath it and averages 3.70 g/t Au. Two distinct types of orebodies have been identified in the Huaishuping gold deposit. The first type is the quartz-vein orebody, where pyrite is primarily developed along both sides of the veins. The second type is the altered-rock orebody, hosted in altered andesite with pyrite showing a disseminated distribution. The previous research divided the metallogenic process into three metallogenic stages: quartz-pyrite stage (stage I), quartz-gold-polymetallic sulfide stage (stage II, the main stage of gold mineralization), quartz-carbonate stage (stage III).
