Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Sphalerite vs. Anorthite
Both zinc ore Sphalerite and calcium plagioclase feldspar Anorthite have perfect cleavage that will split cleanly if you hit them with a hammer, but only one can claim a larger split of your votes!

This quarry, which is now heavily overgrown, worked a NNE-trending kersantite vein for some time around 1935. Another small quarry in the same vein is located on the north slope of the mountain. The vein is hosted in granodiorite and up to 15 m wide. Its massive center part is flanked on both sides by breccia zones, which then grade outwards into zones with miarolitic cavities that are up to 1 m wide. The cavities are typically 1-2 cm across and filled with calcite. They also contain small crystals of feldspar, quartz, epidote, titanite and pyrite.
