Gold-silver mine. Operated intermittently from 1928-1959, and continuously from 1980 to 1995. It was one of the largest gold producers in South Korea.
Several veins were mined (Guksa, Bongamri, ...).

Part of the Cheongyang gold district (Cheonan Metallogenic Province), one of the major areas of gold/silver-bearing quartz vein mineralization in the Republic of Korea.

An apparently unnamed talc mine lies about 6 km NE of the Samgwang mine.
