This lies about 400m to the north of the New Gunnislake Bridge on the Tavistock side of the Tamar with an adit entrance high up on the hillside.
The east-west lode was worked initially for copper but later for tin and wolfram.
The works are remarkable for once having an underground waterwheel which was possibly up to 40 feet in diameter. The wheel pit is now filled in but the walls of the chamber show slots where supporting timbers were wedged.
