The term "Avesnois" is a territory designated "natural regional park" bounded on the north and east by the France-Belgium border, with the following border towns :
To the North : Maubeuge, Jeumont, Marpent
To the East : Solre le Château, Eppe Sauvage, Wallers-Trélon
South and west into the territory of French cities : Anor, La Capelle Landrecies, Le Quesnoy, Bavay delineate the contours of this tourist and wooded region.
The center of the polygon geographic city Avesnes on Helpe.
50°07’28’’N _ 03°55’36’’E.

Many ancient quarries or in operation are spread over the whole surface of the territory. The majority of them produced limestone used for roads or construction. Others produced sandstone, quartzite, marble and sand.
