At contact of crystalline limestone and gneiss.

"The deposit was worked by open pits, the largest measuring 15 by 30 and 60 m deep. The smaller pits are now overgrown. The mine was worked between 1880 and 1895; 27,210 to 36,280 t of ore were shipped to the U.S. Exploratory. Work was conducted on the property in 1951 by Trent River Iron Limited."

History:

1880s: owned and operated by the Mississippi Mining Company Limited. Late 1880s: some work was performed by Kingston and Pembroke Mining Company. 1899: mine was operated on lease from H.A. Ferguson of Kingston to F.W. Schwendiman and Thomas Barnes. Some diamond drilling, widening, deepening and dewatering of the pit were performed and the ore production was resumed. 1918 and 1919 property briefly worked by the Poe Mining Company.
Mid-1920s: 5 ton sample of crude ore from the Robertsville (Mississippi) Mine waste dump tested by the Mines Branch, Department of Mines,Ottawa. 1951: dip needle survey was conducted by Minnesota-Huron Mining Company and 2 diamond-drill holes were drilled by Trent River Iron Limited.
