Sec. 33, T26, R10E, __M.

The Damon & Pythias Mine is at the headwaters of Money Creek, adjoning the Apex property. It was discovered in the late 1890s and worked until the 1940s. Smaller-scale prospecting work was done in the late 1950s to early 1960s. The mine has a total of about 3,000 ft of workings, with 2 main veins, the Damon and the Priestly. Primary ore minerals were Arsenopyrite, Pyrite, Chalcopyrite, and Galena in a quartz vein. The metals taken from this ore were gold, silver, and lead.
Tectonics: The Snoqualmie Batholith Is Part Of Early Magmatism Of The Cascade Magmatic Arc.

Deposit: This property is adjacent to the apex property. Coats (1932, p. 17-19) describes the geology of the veins in both mines. Because the mines were operated by the same company at the time of coats' study, some production from the damon may be included in the apex production figures. ; info.src : 1 pub lit

Development: Econ.com: shipped 23 tons prior to 1940 (huntting, 1956, p. 127). Ore shipped averaged 0.87% oz/ton au, 9 oz/ton ag, and 4% pb (moen, 1976, p. 167).

Geology: The damon and pythias mines are in rocks of the snoqualmie batholith, northern phase, which consists of granodiorite and tonalite and is light colored, medium crystalline, and mostly equigranular and has hypidiomorphic texture. The rocks are coarsely jointed and contain biotite and hornblende and locally clinopyroxene. Age of the northern phase is about 25 m.y. Based on interpretation of numerous discordant k-ar ages of both hornblende and biotite (tabor and others, 1982, p. 8).

Ore(s): Similar To The Apex Mine. Consists Of Two Veins, One Averaging 3 Ft. Wide Over A Distance Of 900 Ft. (Huntting, 1956, P. 127).
