Large-scale granitoid-related vein-type gold deposit, occurring in the NW outer contact zone of a Mesozoic granodiorite stock. More than 50 gold-bearing altered zones occur in gneiss and amphibolite of the Archean Xiaotazhigou Formation. The zones are generally several hundred meters long and 1 m to 5 m wide; they mostly trend NW and dip steeply SW or NE. The deposit occurs discontinously in altered zones in layers or lenses. The ore minerals occur mainly in masses and dense disseminations.

The deposit is genetically related to the Erdaogou and Xiaochanggao gold deposits in Beipiao County of Liaoning Province.
