Mining was first reported here in April 1888, although by this time several costeans had been dug and work was already underway on sinking shafts.
The mine soon encompassed several smaller nearby workings and the area eventually became known as the Ediacara Mines.
Varied attempts have been made to mine this area until as recently as 1967 when C.R.A. Exploration carried out diamond drilling to explore the area with the hopes of re-opening the mine. Their reports, however, showed a less than favorable result, and they abandoned the project.


The mines listed under this listing are all within the Ediacaran Fossil Reserve, access and collecting are strictly prohibited.
