A copper mine in sedimentary rock. It was in operation from 1876 to between 1903 and the First World War.
Copper occurs in fluvial channel sequences (grey sandstone and conglomerate, rich in organic material) at the base of the Boss Point Formation, immediately overlying Mabou Group redbeds. The deposit is a large (1 km by 2 km) lenticular, NE-trending low-grade zone, with high-grade (2 - 10% Cu) sections.
