Name:
After Pietro Sigismund (1874 - 10 July 1962), a well known collector of minerals from Valtellina, Italy, especially Val Malenco. Among other contributions, he discovered the species artinite. From 2005 to 2022 it was renamed by the IMA to arrojadite-(BaFe) (IMA 05-D) but then the historic name was revalidated (IMA 22-C).
