In honour of Georgiy Borisovich Bokii (Георгий Борисович Бокий) (26 September (9 October) 1909, St. Petersburg, Russian Empire - 4 September 2000, Moscow , Russia), crystal chemist, for his contributions to crystal chemistry and mineralogy. He was the first head of the Department of Crystallography and Crystallochemistry in the Geological Faculty of Moscow State University. He also worked at the Institute of Geology of Ore Deposits, Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry of the USSR Academy of Sciences (IGEM).
