A former lode Au-Pb-Mn mine located in secs. 15, 16 & 21, T35N, R10W, MDM, (UTM acc. several locations. Locality taken for the Chloride Mine), 3.1 km (1.9 miles) NE of Dedrick, approximately 3 miles NE of the Dedrick Lookout, on the ridge between Canyon Creek and the Stuart Fork Trinity River, on Bureau of Land Management land (Trinity Alps Wilderness). Discovered 1889. First production 1891. Owned by Frejonley Gold Mines, Mr. Martin Yardley, 8414 Otis Ave. 404460, California (1983). Operated by the Transwestern Mining Co. 404460, P.O. Box 20728, Reno, NV 89515 (1983). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is a deposit Deposit model code 273; USGS model code 36a; deposit model name: Low-sulfide Au-quartz vein; Mark3 model number 27), hosted in hornblendite and schist. Granite and diorite are associated rocks. The ore body is lenticular in form, strikes N55 to 70E and dips 60SE at a thickness of 10.97 meters. Controls for ore emplacement included a shear zone. It was treported that the best ore was generally found along the hanging wall. Spots and stains of Mn oxide were favorable indications.

The shear zone is at right angles to the schistosity of the wall rock. Schistose banding strikes N55W and dips 60 SW. Pegmatitic lenses follow the trend of the schistosity in a few places. Albite occurs in the contact zone with small fragments of schist included in quartz, and is highly kaolinized. Diorite, alaskite and (soda) granite porphyry dikes intrude. Alteration is kaolinization (local). Local rocks include schist of various types and ages, unit 7 (Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings. The main adit is 1,700 feet long on the No. 2 level, driven from Stuart Fork side of the mountain to the Canyon Creek side. Millsites were installed on both sides of the ridge. A 20-stamp mill was installed on the Canyon Creek side. The vein was mined for a thickness of 9-10 feet in several places. In 1937, the No. 3 adit level, 1,700 feet long, at an altitude of 800 feet, below the outcrop of the vein and 300 feet below the No. 2 level adit, was reopened. More detailed descriptions of the workings can be found in Logan (1926).

1891 data from the Chloride group. Small runs from the Bailey group averaged $12 and $40/ton, and 30 tons from the Globe group averaged $30/ton (period values). Ore was free-milling. No other production records were found.

Analytical data results: Some ore assayed $9.75 across the 9 foot thickness of the vein.
