A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ sec. 10, T18N, R10E, MDM, 0.2 km (0.2 mile) WNW of Minnesota Flat (coordinates of record), about 1½ miles SSE of Alleghany, on private land within a National Forest area. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. The literature gives sec. 3, but the Alleghany quadrangle topo map shows sec. 10.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in greenschist, slate and gabbro. The ore body strikes NW and dips NE at a thickness of 0.91 meter. There are 3 veins. The first is a small, vertical vein, probably the same vein that outcrops on the ridge 600 feet S. It strikes N10W. The second vein is 290 feet from the first in the adit. It strikes N65W and dips 50NE. The third vein strikes N64W, then changes to N15W and is 2 to 3 feet thick, and fades to small stringers. The vein (which ?) shows banding of quartz & ribbons of slaty material. Adjacent to and along the ribbons are small crystals of pyrite and arsenopyrite. Projection suggests that the NE-dipping veins are not northern extensions of the Irelan veins, although they probably belong to the same system. The vertical vein shows signs of post-mineralization shearing. The E vein has a well-defined hanging wall, in places with small, vertical quartz stringers entering the vein from the footwall side. There is no evidence of marked replacement. Local rocks include Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 2 (undivided) and/or undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).

Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall length of 182.88 meters and comprised of 2 adits. The lower adit is 440 feet with a 150 foot drift. The upper adit is caved. Surface workings are shallow.

Long inactive. No production record was found.
