A Mn-silica occurrence/claim located in the N½SE¼NE¼ sec. 32, T6S, R5E, MDM, about 4.8 km NNW of Black Mountain (summit), along the W side of Beauregard creek, on private land (fee ownership). Discovered in 1940. Owned by Floyd Buzlich (100%), San Jose, California (1975). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
The ore body is 5 meters thick, 30 meters wide and 30 meters long with a depth-to-top of 0 meters. Ore body No. 1 is sedimentary and dome-like. Ore body No. 2 is disseminated. The primary mode of origin was sedimentation and the secondary mode was oxidation. Primary ore control was bedding. The main exposure is a large, broken block of massive chert, 100 feet in diameter, known locally as the "Big Blow Out." The ore consists of thin films of oxide or disseminated manganiferous carbonate. The chert is almost completely recrystallized and is adjoined by serpentine on the E and glaucophane, crossite and related schists on the W. Contact metamorphic minerals include garnet, crossite, albite, glaucophane and apatite. Some acmite and aegirine are present. There is no wallrock alteration. Local rocks include rocks of the Franciscan melange.
