A Au-Cu-Ag occurrence/mine located in sec. 8, T2N, R26E, SBM, 2.2 km (1.3 miles) WSW of Monument Peak (coordinates of record), on Bureau of Land Management administered land (located claim). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. Property was operated by lessees as late as 1941.

Corrected coordinates : N34.27450 W114.27694 ; taken at traces of mining activities by Richard Muster in the year 2010 using an Ashtech MM6 device.

This property was examined in conjunction with the mineral appraisal of the Whipple Mountains Wilderness Study Area (Bureau of Land Management) in 1980. Backup information can be found in the WFOC mineral property files.

Mineralization is a vein deposit. The ore body is tabular in a shear zone. The primary mode of origin is hydrothermal activity. The secondary mode was oxidation. Primary ore control was fracturing and the secondary control was fracturing. Wallrock alteration is moderate (sericitic, propylitic). Country rock is a highly-fractured, chloritic gneiss in fault contact with Tertiary volcanic and sedimentary rocks. Mineralized zones are altered quartz monzonites containing quartz, feldspars, hematite, sericite, with trace amounts of muscovite, chlorite, ilmenite, magnetite, leucoxene, titanite, limonite, apatite and zircon. Local rocks include Precambrian igneous and metamorphic rock complex.

Workings include underground openings comprised of a 300 foot crosscut adit driven N80E, appended to short drifts, winzes, raises and stopes. The vein is exposed 50 feet above the adit, along a cut, for less than 100 feet. NOTE: The topo map also reflects 2 shaft symbols.
