A former Fe deposit/mine located in sec. 12, T5N, R4E, and in sec. 7, T5N, R5E, SBM, 9.5 km (5.9 miles W of Argos Mountain (coordinates of record), at the western margin of Galway Lake (dry), 30 miles SE of Daggett. Owned by the Kaiser Steel Corporation. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Mineralization is a replacement deposit hosted in dolomite and marble. Drill holes penetrated ore zones ranging in indicated thickness from 87 to 921 feet. Associated rocks include diorite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
Workings include surface openings comprised of pits and one 55 foot deep shaft. During the period 1944 to 1945, a magnetic anomaly was tested by 9 drill holes that penetrated magnetite at the thicknesses stated above.
Analytical data results: Average 37.32% Fe.
