A former Cr-Hg occurrence/mine located in the W½NW¼ sec. 13, T18S, R11E, MDM, 1.6 km (1.0 mile) NE of Goat Mountain (coordinates of record) and 3.8 km (2.4 miles) WNW of Picacho Peak (coordinates of record). Owned by John Mueller. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Franciscan complex (Josephine Peridotite and Late Cretaceous serpentinite) and in Panoche Upper Cretaceous sandstone and shale. The ore body is lenticular, podiform. Chromite deposits occur in a serpentine mass 12.5 miles long and 3 to 4.5 miles wide. Most of the chromite is found in float boulders scattered on hillsides and in gravels of adjoining creeks. The serpentine is highly sheared in most places. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include unspecified surface openings (the topo map reflects 1 open cast mine symbol labeled as this mine at this point).
