A former placer Au-PGE (Pt-Ir-Os) mine and Pb-Zn occurrence located between Bridge House and Michigan Bar. Location given is at the Bridge Hopuse River Crossing.
Mineralization is a stream placer deposit hosted in the Ione Formation (gravel). Local rocks include Eocene nonmarine rocks, unit 1 (Northern and Central California).
Local tectonic structures include the base of the Sierra Nevada foothills.
Workings included drift mining (1850's and 1860's); hydraulic mining (1930's and 1940's). A small acreage dredged.
Production data are found in: Clark (1970).
Analytical data results: PGE sample yielded 44.75% Pt, 24.84% Ir, 21.72% Os, 8.69% Rh (Mertie, table 40).
Result: PGE sample yielded 33.3% Pt, 41.97% Os+Ir, 18.88% Ir, 13.58% Au(Logan: P. 109).
