A former lode Au-Pb-Zn-As occurrence/mine located in the S½ (estimated) sec. 35, T16N, R8E, MDM, about 2.3 km SE of Grass Valley proper, on Ophir Hill. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. The ore body strikes N and dips 35W. The vein is 1 foot thick. The quartz is comb, massive & sheared. The vein carries 2% of the vein material. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 53.34 meters and comprised of a shaft.

Production information: Average of 2.5 to 4.5 ounces Au/ton and 5 to 8 ounces Ag/ton. Concentrate ore averaged $20 to $50/ton.
