A former Au-Ag-Cu mine located in sec. 35 & 36, T17N, R7E, MDM, 1.4 km (0.9 mile/5,400 feet) SSE of French Corral, N of the South Yuba River, on private (patented) land. The property comprises 107 acres of varying mineral types and extends into sec. 36. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Mine apparently renamed the South Yuba with 6 claims. MacBoyle locates this mine in R8E, later references; however, place it in R7E.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schist and granodiorite. The ore body strikes N45W and dips 60W. The veins are rich in Cu toward the hanging wall and TU (??) sulfur toward the footwall. The gossan is 500 feet wide in places. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 518.16 meters and comprised of 6 adits, tunnels and crosscuts.
Analytical data results: Estimated assays: 2.12% Cu; $3.34 (period values) Au for low-grade ore. $1.92 (period values) Au, Ag and 38.2% Cu for high-grade ore. Gossan values from $5 to $10 (period values) Au/ton.
