A former W-Cu-Mo mine located in the SE¼SW¼ sec. 29, T4S, R28E, MDM, 0.6 km (1,900 feet) NNW of Bloody Mountain (coordinates of record) (on the N slope of the mountain, above Laurel Lake), on National Forest wilderness land (John Muir Wilderness). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Mineralization is a contact-metamorphic deposit. The roof rock is hornfels with layers of calc-silicates. Tungsten is associated with the calcium-bearing layers to form scheelite. The ore bodies are irregular in shape. Local rocks include Permian marine sedimentary rocks, unit 1 (Death Valley and Mojave Desert).
Workings include underground openings.
Assays show Au values as great as $30 per ton (period values), and also Ag.
