A former lode Au mine located in the SE¼ sec. 19 & in the NE¼ sec. 30, T6S, R18E, MDM, 5.6 km (3.5 miles) E of Round Hills (coordinates of record) (4½ miles SE of Catheys Valley). Discovered in 1855. Property is comprised of 20 patented acres. Operated by the Gold Recovery Corporation C/O T. S. O'Brien. Intermittently active until 1903. Some development but little or no recorded production in the 1930's. Inactive in 1954. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with a vein 4 to 5 feet thick, hosted in granodiorite and schist. The ore body strikes NE and dips 45SE at a thickness of 1.52 meters. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include surface and underground openings, which, in 1903, were comprised of a 300 foot inclined shaft with 3 levels, 680 feet of drifts. Before that there were 2 adits and a raise.
