A former lode Au-Ag occurrence/mine located in secs. 35 & 36, T29S, R40E, MDM, 0.7 km (0.4 mile) E of Randsburg, on private (patented) land. The property is comprised of patented claims. Owned by Shipsey Mining Co., South Pasadena, California (1949- ). Operated by Max Hess, Johannesburg, California (1949- ). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in diabase and schist. The ore body is irregular in form, strikes N35W-N80E and dips 40-50NE. There are 4 veins with generally well-defined walls, separated from vein material by gouge and show slickensides. Pay ore averaged less than 2 feet in thickness and was at least 1,400 feet in length. The cross vein narrows where it cuts a strongly mineralized diabase dike. Values were erratic. In general, they cling close to the hanging walls of veins in connected, but more or less irregular bunches. Gangue included quartz, pyrite and arsenopyrite. Associated rocks include quartz monzonite and diabase. Local rocks include schist of various types and ages, unit 2 (Southern and West-central California).

Workings include underground openings with a length of 3,048 meters and an overall depth of 167.64 meters, and are comprised of a 700 foot, 45 degree incline with 7 levels and approximately 11,500 feet of lateral workings. Some diamond drilling was done on underground points. There are also a number of shallow shafts.

Production data are found in: Hulin, Carlton D. (1925).

The best ore mined occurred between the 300 foot level and surface. No concentrators were used in the mill since the ore contained almost no sulfides. Daily production previous to 1925 was about 5 tons. Average grade of ore was such that approximately $25 (period values) per ton was caught on plates during milling. Mine returns indicate a fineness of about 780. Production for 3 months ending July 19, 1923, amounted to 659.5 ounces of Au.
