A former Ag-Pb-Zn mine located in the SW¼ sec. 18, T19S, R41E, MDM, 1.1 miles N44°E of Darwin, at 4720 feet of altitude. The mine comprises 3 claims. Originally owned by L.D. Owen and sold to Alex Ruona in 1927 and later owned by Hilma Ruona and Marie Wilson-Ruona. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. Updated description and position N36.27994, W117.57754 by Richard Muster based on observations in 2007.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in blue limestone and greenish-gray brown-weathering calc-hornfels of the upper member of the Keeler Canyon formation. Two fissure veins, 1 to 10 feet wide, strike N42°E. The veins are iron stained and contain jasper and coarse gray calcite. Galena and cerussite are the chief ore minerals. Local rocks include Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 2 (SE California Carbonate Assemblage).
Workings include surface and underground openings. The first developments were already done in the 1890’s. The workings consist of a shaft 200 feet deep with a 30 feet winze and with short levels at 75, 150 and 200 feet. There is also an inclined shaft, 30 feet deep and several shallow pits.
