A former Au-Cu-Sb-Mo-Pb-Zn occurrence/mine located in the SE¼ sec. 5, T10N, R10E, MDM, 1.6 km (1.0 mile SSW of Gold Hill and 2.0 km (1.2 miles) WNW of Cold Springs, N of Weber Creek (5 miles WNW of Placerville), on private land. Operated by R. V. Montgomery. In 1953 the property was leased to Carl Howe who did a small amount of rehabilitation and surface exploration. Intermittently operated during the period 1928 to 1942 and in 1953. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granodiorite. The ore body strikes N15E and dips 80E. The veins lie in contact with a metamorphic zone of greenstone, mica schist, and granodiorite. The ore consists of parallel bands of pyrite & chalcopyrite, associated with quartz and magnetite. Bornite, specular hematite, sphalerite, molybdenite, arsenopyrite, stibnite and galena are also present. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings comprised of a 200 foot shaft with crosscuts on 2 levels. The shaft was sunk near the main vein.

Yielded small amounts of Au & Cu. A reported shipment in 1929 ciontained, besides Au, Cu, Pb, Zn, Sb, As & Mo.

Analytical data results: assays variable for Au and 1 to 10% or more of Cu.
