The Bonanza mining district is located on the extreme eastern end of the San Juan Mts, south of Poncha Pass & the town of Salida in central Colorado. It was an old silver mining district of modest productivity. The Eagle mine (no connection to the more-famous Eagle mine at Gilman in Eagle Co.) was the largest and best-known mine in the Bonanza district. Rocks & Minerals 75:312
