A Mn prospect located in the NW¼ sec. 33, T11S, R24E, MDM, 0.4 km (1,400 feet) WSW of Watts Valley (coordinates of record) (in the valley; 1 mile W of Watts Valley Post Office). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is lenses of rhodonite or quartz rhodonite rock in quartz beds which grades into quartz sericite and quartz biotite schists. The lenses are usually 8 to 10 inches wide and exist within definite horizons in the schists. The ore is altered to a coarsely crystalline rhodonite-quartz-spessartine rock enclosed in a coarse-grained quartz-mica rock near a granite contact.
Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.
