A former lode Au-Co-Pb-Zn mine located in the SW¼NW¼ sec. 21, T4N, R13E, MDM, about 6.65 km NE of Calaveritas, SE of Old Gulch (2 miles SE of Sheep Ranch). Operated during the 1870's to 1884 and from 1885 to 1938 intermittent work was done. The Old Calaveras group was worked as early as 1872. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is .

Mineralization is hosted in mica schist, slate and quartzite. The ore body strikes N70E and dips SE at a thickness of 1.22 meters. The country rock is the Calaveras Formation. There are 5 veins from 2 to 4 feet thick in thickness and trend NE. The principal vein is the Calaveras (strike and dip provided above). Small amounts of diorite and gabbro are found on the dumps. Small amounts of smaltite and erythrite with arsenopyrite are found in a quartz stringer a few inches wide on the Co propsect. It is hosted in mica schist and quartzite. The 5 veins are: the Calaveritas (3 to 4 feet thick); Washington Pescia vein (6 feet thick); Intermediate vein (1.5 feet thick); Enchantress vein (2 feet thick); and, the South Bank vein (2.5 feet thick). The cobalt was mine on the N end of the property. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).

Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 137.16 meters and comprised of a 450 foot shaft (Mar John or Calaveras), with levels at 120, 240, 350 and 450 feet. There is a 350 foot shaft 400 feet to the SE. Most of the stoping was between the 2 shafts. Crosscuts were driven to the NW and SE from the 350 foot level.
