A former placer & lode Au mine located in secs. 8 & 18, T3N, R14E, MDM, (2 miles S of of Murphys). Operated prior to and during the period 1935 to 1936. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a placer & vein deposit. The May Jane ore body is 0.76 meters thick at a length of 60.96 meters. The vein dips almost vertically. Abundant pyrite is present. There are also 2 auriferous channels overlain by andesite lava flows that traverse the ranch. These channels are developed. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada) and/or Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of an 80 foot adit and a 60 foot raise as well as shallow open cuts.

Analytical data results: Ore was reported to be valued at $8.50 (period values) Au/ton.
