The Calumet has the honor of being one of the most difficult mines in Washington to reach, needing technical rock climbing skills to reach the workings. The workings consisted of two adits aggregating 680' of tunnel. A small tram connected the larger upper adit to the camp. While Huntting (1956) does not credit any production, the stopes in the workings suggest otherwise. Similar to the Merchant Mine on the other side of the ridge, there was an unusual amount of zinc here for the Index area.
