A large urban quarry on the north edge of Racine. Workings are on both sides of Hwy 32, with a tunnel beneath the highway and bike path connecting the two parts. The quarry exposes a good section of 4 distinct Silurian formations. All are dolostones and some contain vuggy areas and brecciated structures possibly related to paleokarst development. In the 1990's this breccia zone provided excellent "smoky" calcite crystals and sulfides, notably marcasite. The quarry is also a good place to find a host of Silurian fossils.
