Mina La Respina, Fuentes de Respina, Puebla de Lillo, León, Castilla y León, España

Red nodular Visean limestone affected by dolomitization and talcification.

The mine "La Respina" is part of a series of mining operations located along a wide swath mineralized within the municipality of "La Puebla de Lillo" this being the most important in the area and while operating it was the mine most important of talc of Spain.

The mineralization is located in an area of great tectonic complication and especially with a thrust plane that connects a level of Quartzite of Ordovician and Carboniferous levels mainly limestones that have suffered dolomitization phenomena.

The mineralization affects both the level of Quartzite and the level of Dolomite and is consequently of metasomatic phenomena resulting from the reaction of fluids rich in silica and magnesium from the original rocks which are being replaced in many cases preserving the original form being perfect example Dolomite crystals transformed into Talc (pseudomorphism)
