A former surface and underground Pb-Cu-Zn-Au-V mine located in the N½ sec. 13, T5S, R19E (Cobre Grande Mountain 7.5 minute topo map), 2¾ miles N of Aravaipa in Old Deer Creek Canyon. Discovered 1925. Unpatented claims extend into secs. 7, 18 & 19, T5S, R20E.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with a tabular ore body hosted in Williamson Canyon Tuff (andesitic lava). Andesitic lava and tuff were cut by a fault zone up to 6 feet wide. Mineralization occurs in this zone. Ore control was the fracture zone. Ore concentration was fissure filling.
Area structures include block faulting trending NNW. Regional trends: minor Pre-Cretaceous E- and NE-trending folds and major Post-Cretaceous NNW-trending faults.
Workings consist of an adit (flooded), crosscuts, and open cuts; a 60 by 20 foot concrete leaching tank, a 55 by 3 foot concrete precipitation tank and a large concrete water storage tank exist on site. 1 ton of oxidized Cu ore was shipped.
